Adding and Understanding Post Categories & Tags

 




 

Categories should be used to organise posts in a hierarchy.
 

Tags are a better means of providing additional groupings and relationships between posts.


Post categories provide a helpful way to group related blog posts together. You can create categories for different topics you cover in your blog. 

 

 

 

Adding a Category


 

1. Navigate to Posts on the left-hand panel and click Categories
 

 

 

2. Enter in a name, slug (if desired) and a description.
 

 

3. Click Add New Category.
 

 



Editing a Category

 


1. To Edit a Category, click on Edit.





2. Edit name, slug, parent category and description and click Update
 




Quick Edit a Category
 


1. To quickly edit a category, click Quick Edit




2. Edit the name and slug and click Update Category




 


Delete a Category 



1. To delete a category, click Delete.



 

2. Click Ok. This will be permanently deleted from your site. 





View a Category



1. To view a category, click View



 

2. By clicking view, this will then take you to the category on the website. 

 

 

Tags can be used as a way to group related posts together and to quickly tell readers what a post is about. They also make it easy for people to find your content. The use of tags is completely optional and you can assign multiple tags to each post.
 

 

Adding a Tag

 

1. Navigate to Posts on the left-hand panel and click Tags. 
 

 

2. Enter in a name, slug (if desired) and a description.
 

 

3. Click Add New Tag.



 


Edit a Tag



1. To edit a tag, click Edit




 

2. Edit the name, slug and description and click Update



 

Quick Edit a Tag

 

1. To quickly edit a tag, click Quick Edit


 

2. Edit the name and slug and click Update Tag.



 

 

Delete a Tag

 

1. To delete a tag, click Delete



 

2. Click Ok. This will be permanently deleted from your site. 


 



View a Tag

 

1. To view a tag, click View
